Belgium's Paul Van Haver, known to the world as Stromae, born to a Rwandan father and Belgian mother, was raised in a poor neighborhood of Brussels but later attended the Jette Music Academy after failing out of the public school system.While working as a trainee at Belgium's national pop radio station NRJ, Stromae persuaded the station's music director to play his song "Alors On Danse".
