The Wiggles are a children's music group from Australia formed in Sydney, in 1991.The idea behind the formation of the group came from Anthony Field. Other members in the original line up from 1991 were Phillip Wilcher, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt. Wilcher left the group in 1991 although he later appeared in the film clip for Dorothy the Dinosaur which was filmed around March of 1992. He was still a member of the Partnership until late 1992.Greg Page later left the group as lead singer due to illness and was replaced by Sam Moran..Accounts about the group's formation vary. Some say the eponymous debut album of 1991 was a project for their studiues at Macquarie University although this is not likely since Anhtony Field and Murray Cook were Third Year students at the time and Greg Page was in First Year. Wilcher was actually a member of staff at Macquarie assisting in the Early Childhood Music program. Fatt was not a member of the student body. According to one of Australia's leading archival institutes, the debut album was recorded at Sydney's Tracking Station. Recording costs totaled $1650.00. A typed breakdown sheet from The wiggles Management gives the following financial contributions and reimbursments for the recording :Phillip Wilcher $825.00 reimbursed recording costsAnthony Field $750.00 reimbursed recording costsMurray Cook $25 reimbursed tape stockGreg Page $50 reimbursed tape stockJeff Fatt NILThe group received a $20,000.00 Publishing Advance. 50% of that advance went to the Partnership less 20% to management.Of the $10,000.00 remaining, Wilcher received the greater portion having written and performed the most material for the album.The combined percentage of creative input from Field, Cook, Page and Fatt totalled 60.40%, the remaining input coming from Wilcher.Field contributed 27.10%Page contributed 13.10%Cook contributed 11.10%Fatt contributed 9.10%The debut album as was recorded in 1991 was later phased out after achieving Gold and Platimun Status and re-recorded with all of Wilcher's original work erased in 1998.
