Paulina Susana Rubio Dosamantes is a Mexican singer, songwriter, actress, model and businesswoman. Born in Mexico City, she first achieved recognition as a member of the successful pop group Timbiriche from 1982 through 1991, where she stood out as one of the main members. After leaving Timbiriche, she embarked on a solo career. Referred to as the "Queen of Latin Pop", Rubio is regarded as a pop icon and is credited with influencing the revival of Latin pop during the 2000s. She is also considered as one of the most influential Latin celebrities in the world. Rubio has sold over 20 million albums, making her one of the best-selling Latin music artists.Rubio's first two studio albums, La Chica Dorada and 24 Kilates, were commercial successes and made her EMI Latin's best-selling Mexican female artist. In the mid-1990s, she adopted a more mature and electronic style for her next two albums, El Tiempo Es Oro and Planeta Paulina, and made her feature film debut with a starring role in Bsame en la Boca.
