In 1945 werd het Metropole Orkest door Dolf van der Linden opgericht als ensemble dat het volk hoop en vertier biedt. Het ensemble groeit vervolgens uit tot een orkest van formaat, inclusief een volledige symfonische strijkerssectie en big band. Tot 2012 wordt het orkest gefinancierd uit het omroepbudget. Inmiddels is het Metropole Orkest echter een zelfstandig orkest en verzorgt het zelf een groot deel van haar inkomsten. En dit lukt, dankzij de passie voor het maken van geweldige muziek.In 1945 the Metropole Orkest is formed by Dolf van der Linden. The orchestra started as an ensemble that is supposed to inspire and entertain the nation. Throughout the years the ensemble however evolves in a famous orchestra. Until 2012 the orchestra is funded from the broadcasting fund, but nowadays the Metropole Orkest is an independent organization. It takes care for a large share of its revenues, spirited by the passion it has for the making of tremendous music.
