I am a phonetician who is interested in cats and the sounds that they make when they communicate with us humans as well as with other cats (and other animals). This is my first attempt to add some videos with examples of different cat sounds. My goal is to try to categorise them based on the phonetic characteristics (i.e. what they sound like, what vowels and/or consonants that are made of, and what the melody is like) and the situations that they are used in, and to make the examples available to everyone. Most videos are also shown together with descriptions of the sounds that the cats make on the website of the Meowsic project: www.meowsic.info/catvoc.html.
